In Exodus 14, you are reminded that difficult circumstances can make you look backward and long for what God has already brought you out of. When Israel faced the Red Sea, fear caused them to believe that returning to Egypt was better than moving forward. But Moses told them, “Fear ye not. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord” Examine your mindset. You cannot allow fear, past experiences, present circumstances, or the influence of the world to convince you that what God delivered you from was better than what He is leading you toward. You must govern your thoughts according to the Word of God and learn to deal with your “inner man.” You are also encouraged to keep your poise when life becomes difficult. Your circumstances are only for a moment, so don't allow temporary situations to determine your permanent outlook. Instead, keep moving, keep trusting God, and let Him fight your battles. When you cannot see your way forward, remember that your praise still has power. Like Paul and Silas, who praised God while imprisoned and saw their chains broken, you can praise God even in difficult places. Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds you that His mercies are new every morning and that His faithfulness is great. Therefore, you have a reason to praise—even when life is hard. Your situation is temporary, but God's faithfulness is constant. Don't go backward because of fear. Keep your mind on God, keep your poise, keep moving forward, and praise Him until you see His salvation. This week, identify one situation that has been affecting your mindset. Give it to God in prayer, replace fearful thoughts with His Word, and choose to praise God instead of allowing your circumstances to control your response. Stand still when God tells you to stand, move when He tells you to move, and trust Him to bring you through. Date: Sunday August 16, 2026 Speaker: Pastor James Schwartz Jr Sermon Title: Warped Mindset Scripture References: Exodus 14:10-13 10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. 11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. 13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. Jeremiah 3:15 15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. Psalm 100:1-5 1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. 2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. Psalm 23;1-2 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. Lamentations 3:22-23 22 It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. No matter what season you're walking through, you can trust that God is working behind the scenes for your good. Numbers 23:19, reminds you that God is not a man that He should lie—if He has spoken a promise, He will bring it to pass. Stop allowing worry and fear to control your life. Instead, trust God's care as Jesus taught in Matthew 6:26, knowing that if God faithfully provides for the birds, He will certainly provide for you. You're reminded to stand on God's promises, knowing that all of His promises are "Yes" and "Amen" (2 Corinthians 1:20), that He has plans to give you "an expected end" (Jeremiah 29:11), and that nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:35-39). Even when the battle seems difficult, God promises to strengthen and uphold you (Isaiah 41:10) and to accomplish His work through His Spirit (Zechariah 4:6). Rather than dwelling on what you've lost, you're encouraged to deepen your relationship with God, remain faithful, forgive those who have hurt you, continue serving others, and keep inviting people to Christ. God is able to take every trial, every delay, and every disappointment and turn it into a testimony of His faithfulness. Whatever you're facing today, don't give up or give in. Release your worries, trust God's promises, stay faithful to His Word, and continue walking with Him. If God said it, He will do it—and in His perfect time, God is going to make it good. Pain is real, but it was never meant to become the place where you live. Through the life of Joseph, you are reminded that although others may intend harm, God can use every painful experience for His purpose and your good (Genesis 50:20). Like Joseph, you may face betrayal, rejection, false accusations, disappointment, or seasons of waiting, but those experiences do not mean God has abandoned you. Instead, He calls you to choose discipline over bitterness, trusting that He is still working behind the scenes. The message also reminds you that God is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18-19), that discipline keeps you moving when emotions tell you to quit (Hebrews 12:11), and that your greatest ministry may grow from your greatest wound. Your trauma may explain part of your journey, but it should never define your identity. Through Christ, your pain can become a testimony instead of a prison. This week, surrender every hurt to God. Continue to pray, worship, forgive, and trust Him even when healing feels slow. Refuse to let your pain define your future, and allow God to transform your deepest wounds into a testimony that brings hope and healing to others. Date: Sunday July 26, 2026 - Youth Day Speaker: Elder Adrias Schwartz Sermon Title: Don't Let Your Pain Become Your Prison Scripture References: Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 37:1-8 And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan. 2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report. 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. 4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him. 5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more. 6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed: 7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf. 8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words. Psalms 34:18-19 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- St. James Pentecostal Church The Powerhouse Center 630 Auburn Ave, Swedesboro, NJ 08085 Pastor James A. You will face disappointment, fear, discouragement, and seasons when the enemy tries to steal your joy, but your joy was never meant to depend on your circumstances. Remember to rejoice because your name is written in heaven (Luke 10:20), not because life is always going well. Even faith as small as a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20) is enough for God to work through your struggles. Like Hannah, Elijah, Job, Paul, and even Jesus Himself, you can choose to trust God, praise Him in every season, and fight for the joy that comes from His presence rather than temporary success or comfort. As Nehemiah 8:10 declares, "The joy of the Lord is your strength." This week, refuse to let disappointment define your outlook. Fight for your joy by praying, worshipping, standing on God's Word, and choosing faith over fear. No matter what you're facing, remember that your greatest victory is found in Christ. You may feel like you're standing in a dry place where life's disappointments, struggles, and spiritual battles have drained your strength. Remember that the same God who breathed life into a valley of dry bones (Ezekiel 37:1-6) can restore, revive, and renew you. When you remain in the Spirit, stand on God's Word, and speak His promises over your life, God can breathe new life into every hopeless situation. God's presence, His Word, and His power are what sustain you through every battle. No matter how dry your circumstances seem, God is still able to revive what appears lifeless and fulfill His purpose for your life. This week, invite the breath of the Lord into every area of your life. Speak God's Word over your circumstances, refuse to give up, and trust that the God who brought life to dry bones can breathe fresh hope, strength, and purpose into you today. And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. 4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. When you have tried everything else, it’s time to try Jesus. Matthew 17:14 demonstrated that deliverance requires faith, dependence on God, and a willingness to allow Him to address the root of the problem rather than just the symptoms. Deliverance is not simply about being set free from circumstances; it is about allowing Christ to restore your soul so you can walk in victory, obedience, and spiritual authority. Through prayer, faith, and surrender, God is able to break every stronghold and bring lasting freedom. Allow God to search your heart this week. Strengthen your faith through prayer, surrender every burden to Him, and trust that the same Jesus who delivered then is still able to bring complete deliverance to your soul today.
